Battlefront Miniatures GFNBRAB18 - British Rifle Company Army Deal
Corporal Jones leaned against the side of the rifle pit beside Private Stephens who was manning the Bren gun. They scanned the area to their front for any sign of the Japanese attack they were told was coming. Their company was strung out in a defensive position at the base of the hill.
The heat and humidity were oppressive, Jones was thinking what he wouldnt give to be back home in Wales with his wife and kids. Movement to his front caught his attention and brought him back to the present. He peered over the sights of his rifle and he saw a shadow moving in the jungle to his front.
"Look alive Stevo, boyo, there is movement to the front,? he said to Stephens.
Stephens wiped the sweat off his brow and muttered a curse as he took a firmer grip of the Bren.

The British Army is a modern fully-motorised force. Unfortunately this is not ideal in the lush jungle terrain of Malaya and Burma, so the riflemen needed to rely on their route marching skills to get about. However, most of the British troops are well-supplied with rifles and ammuni-tion and can call on mortar, machine-gun, and carrier or armoured car support. The British units in the Indian army tended to get priority on equipment, but sometimes equipment wasnt available and some units had to do without Boys anti-tank rifles and 2? light mortars. However, they are usually fully equipped with rifles and Bren light machine-guns, though usually only had very limited numbers of submachine-guns (Stens or Thompsons).
By 1943 the Indian Army had begun to get a handle on what was required for fighting in the jungles of Burma. Troops began to receive some instruc-tion in jungle warfare and equipment and weapons were supplied in the required numbers. Even clothing had been adapted to the conditions with lighter summer cotton uniforms dyed jungle green.
