CONTROL THE COURSE OF THE HIDDEN WARS!
Take your place as gamemaster of a dark epic RPG set in an age of world-shaking heroes and villains vying to protect or corrupt humanity. This is a setting rife with brutal battles, sinister plots, and murderous intrigue, blending Lovecraftian cosmic horror with ancient civilisations who must rise above old feuds.
As gamemaster, you will bring this world to life, shining a light into dark corners along the borders of an expanding empire encroaching on proud cultures already beset by nefarious threats.
The supernatural wars are instigated and controlled by secretive cabals. The most powerful of these are led by quasi-immortal beings who have turned to dark magic, poorly understood relics, and unholy pacts to extend their lifespans. This includes the last remnants of fallen Atlantis, whose shadow spreads wide. Some of these groups are largely benevolent, if pragmatic and sometimes cruel, seeking to safeguard humanity against its greatest foes. Others are fully devoted to the Outer Gods and would see the world burn.
Will your players rise to become great legends or, like so many others, fall to the corruptive temptations offered by Mythos Gods? Their fates are in your hands.
The 272-page full-colour, hardcover, Cohors Cthulhu Gamemasters Guide provides dedicated advice on the art of gamemastering within Cohors Cthulhu, including:
x Detailed information on the factions at play, including the history of the Hidden Wars, and a guide to the frontier town of Laurium, which serves as an ideal place for heroic PCs of all backgrounds to assemble.
x Perspectives on the mindset of the ancient era and how this can inform your own games, including an examination of the gods and divine pantheons of the ancient world.
x Lore and rules systems to generate artifacts of legend, including those built by the fallen Atlanteans, the vanished Hyperboreans, and the lurking Mythos cults.
x Description of the magic tomes and grimoires, with four complete spellbooks covering Mormo, Nyarlathotep, Cthulhu, and Yog-Sothoth.
x A repository of profiles for adversaries including potent and dangerous mortals as well as many monstrous Mythos creatures.
x Special advancement options to create Voidforged, the most experienced PCs who have shouldered difficult burdens in exchange for great power.
x Detailed Plot Generator to help generate NPCs, Hooks, Plot Concepts, Antagonists, Themes, Goals, Objectives, Artifacts, Locations, and more.
